Wairarapa Korus will have another tough game this Sunday as they travel to Palmerston North to face last year’s Mike Shrimpton trophy winners Manawatu. It will be another chance for Wairarapa’s contingent of the 5 recently selected Hinds to put some good performances out on the park against a team with 3 of their Hinds team mates; Mikaela Grieg and Rebecca Burns aswell as WhiteFerns fast bowler Hannah Rowe who has just returned from a successful tour to the United Arab Emirates with the Whiteferns.
This is set out to be a close competitive game with 8 of the Hinds participating on Sunday. With new Hinds Wairarapa opening bowler Kate Sims set to join Melissa Hansen in the bowling ranks along with new Hinds leg spinning all-rounder Georgia Atkinson, with established player and captain of the Wairarapa Women Esther Lanser set to provide some off spin and stability in the middle order. Kerry Tomlinson comes in for her first game for the Korus after having played for the Northern Districts Spirit for the past few seasons and is now back playing for the Hinds this year.
The Wairarapa team will again be a mixture of experience along with the young up and comers of Olivia Roseingrave coming in for her first game of the season and Hattie Vincent and Amy Fitzgerald who will strengthen the bowling after having good performances last weekend against Whanganui.
