Senior and Junior cricket is well underway in the Wairarapa!
On Friday evening there was a hive of activity at Queen Elizabeth Park where 4 games of cricket were played.
The sun was out, there was a little bit of wind, but it was fantastic to see the parent support. Not only do parents support their children on the side line as the photo below shows, but they also give up their valuable time coaching the children.
Carterton were up against Red Star Heat The Red Star Firebirds were playing the Red Star Volts
The Red Star Sixers were up against the Red Star Stags, and Lansdowne Kiwi team was playing Hadlow
On Saturday morning there were 2 games of Hard ball cricket from the Premiership grade being played at Park Sports.
Subway Lansdowne Gold took on the Red Star Aces and had a good win posting 140 for 3 in 25 overs. Red Star got to 71 for 5 in their 25 overs.
In the other game East Coast took on Martinborough. At the time of writing this report the result is not known, East Coast made 124 runs in their 25 overs.
Senior Cricket was underway too at Park Sports where in the Open Grade Lansdowne 2 took on Greytown 10 o’clock Cookie Company.
In the Senior Grade the highlight of the weekend was two centuries being scored.
Rathkeale College were up against Red Star in the Umpires Cup. Steve Coleman made 103 runs. For the full score card click here
