Disappointing results so far from the Under 16 team, We have never clicked with the bat only once getting a score over 150 and twice getting bowled out for under a 100 in conditions that were great for batting, the boys need to strive to get big scores now as 30s are not good enough at this level. The boys have been more successful in the field doing their best even though they have never had good totals to bowl too.
Individual highlights so far this season have been certain bowling performances from Jack Wakeling, Sam Birchall and Walter Barber, Jack Wakeling’s 81 vs Wairarapa Under 14s and Lucien Burt’s 41 against Wanganui where he set up a half decent total and showed us how well he can hit the ball which was shown by the big boundaries and also his 31 against the under 14s which was off 15 balls and included 4 sixes.
