Important Community Notice
It is with sadness that the WCA inform our wider community that the difficult decision has been made to postpone the end of season WCA Community Awards Evening.
Over the past 24-48 hours we have received a significant number of updates from both New Zealand Cricket and Central Districts Cricket on their actions in response to COVID-19.
The Management Board of the WCA and the Wairarapa Cricket Operations team have held involved discussions around our social and financial responsibilities. These discussions, and actions confirmed from both our National body and Major Association, have led to this decision.
Postponement and rearrangement will be contingent on the assumption that current risk factors of large numbers of people gathering in one location are relaxed.
We will be working with both the venue, Carterton Events Centre, and Ambassador Caterers to look at potential dates later in the off-season (closer to the 2020/21 season) and will advertise this when available.
We are keen to ensure that we do not leave the season and its participants unrecognised. We are therefore working through a plan to ensure that Trophy winners are publicised, and receive their requisite awards.
The WCA will utilise the following two and a half weeks to ensure all involved are provided with a fitting recognition from Wairarapa Cricket. If and when the Awards Evening is re-scheduled the recognition will be provided again.
This is not an ideal situation but we are working through risk factors that are not the norm.
For those few that have already paid for the evening, these people will be contacted individually to organise a refund.
The raffle that is currently being run online will continue in its current form and drawn on Thursday 2 April 2020.
