Female Cricket

For the 2021-22 season the Wairarapa Cricket Association will have the following playing opportunities available to female cricketers:

Junior Club System

Friday Night Cricket – For Girls Year 1 through to year 5/6 cricket can be played via the WCA JCB club system in the following grades – Kiwi, Super 8 & Incrediball. You can find club coordinator contact details via the WCA Handbook or our Clubs / Schools contact page.

Saturday Morning Development Teams – JCB Club & Secondary School – From Year 5 to Year 9 Girls are able to play as part of one of Wairarapa’s Development Girls squads in the JCB Saturday morning Hardball competition. These squads are open to any Girl wishing to play hardball, in a team that values fun and friendship. School Cricket

The WCA has various school competitions for primary / intermediate and secondary female players to participate.

Lone Star Girls Trophy: This is a 9 per side Hardball competition for Primary and Intermediate school teams played on Thursday evenings, 16 overs per innings.

T20 Girls: This is a 9 aside hardball competition for Intermediate A and Secondary School teams played on Thursday evenings, 20 overs per innings

Combined Secondary Girls: For the 2021-22 Season we are looking at having a this combined team play in the Trevor Martin Trophy 30 over Saturday Morning Boys competition. The schools that will likely combine will be Wairarapa College, Kuranui College, Solway College and another players from St Matthews Collegiate that are not in one of their teams/squads (this is to enable as much development and growth for everyone).These are open to any female secondary player who wish to participate in a stronger cricketing competition. College 1st XIs: For the 2021-22 Season this will be worked through on an individual school basis as to the appropriate competitionthese teams will enter into. Whether this is Tuesday afternoon Boys T20, Thursday Midweek Girls, Saturday morning boys, or source their own inter school fixtures, or a combination of all. 

Club/Franchise

Wairarapa Womens Franchise League:  A T20 club competition with four women’s club teams that are evenly created with players from our Senior Womens rep team (Korus) other WCA Female Pathway/Rep teams, any secondary school girls and any other females wanting to participate. This competition will run for 6-7 weeks, mid November to mid December 2021 and then again end of January to mid February 2022.

Representative

For the 2021-22  season the WCA will have the following Female Pathway/ Representative teams:

Pre-Season trainings will commence August 2021 and Opportunity Days will be held in October 2021 (dates to be confirmed).
